Our friends over at SPARK Animation are back and better than ever! They have a stellar lineup of conference speakers including opening keynote speaker Hal Hickel and closing keynote speaker Joe Letteri. In-between they’ve got an amazing list of talented presenters from DreamWorks Animation, ILM, Sony Pictures Imageworks, LAIKA, New Deal Studio, Blue Sky Studio, and The Jim Henson Company.

The festival is launching with a special opening night film Industrial Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible. Other fabulous films include the North American premiere of Pablo, the Canadian premiere of Toys in the Attic, and the British Columbia premieres ofThe Nature of Frédéric Back, A Cat in Paris, and A Letter to Momo.

The Vancouver chapter of the Visual Effects Society would like to invite Vancouver ACM SIGGRAPH to a special members only 3-D screening of Aardman Animations‘ stop motion film, The Pirates! Band of Misfits.

There will be a Q & A immediately following the film with Chris King and Ben Toogood, moderated by Warren Franklin.

Come join us on Tuesday March 13th, and experience the world’s best animation and visual effects in a special showcase version of the 2011 SIGGRAPH Conference’s Computer Animation Festival.

Specially curated by award winning Art Director (and Vancouver ACM SIGGRAPH President) Henry LaBounta, we are incredibly excited to be able to present this rare program, including the Academy Award winning animated short, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.
